What happens to a person when life takes a turn you could never have imagined? When the dream of family life suddenly looks completely different – because you had a child with special needs?
In this powerful and honest seminar, Annette shares her personal story of the grief, love and difficult choices that followed when she became a mother to a son with a developmental disability. She puts into words the feelings that many recognize but few speak aloud: the longing for what could have been, guilt, powerlessness – and at the same time, a deep love and determination to find a new path.
She also touches on a form of grief that can be difficult for some to express: when the community and faith you had imagined sharing as a family – for example, in church – is no longer possible in the same way. When the environment doesn’t fit your child’s needs, and you as a family must find new ways to live out faith, community and meaning.
This seminar is for you if you have close relatives who share these experiences, or if you yourself have somehow ended up with a different life than the one you dreamed of. It is for you who are raising a child who is physically or mentally challenged – and who are searching for meaning, direction and perhaps simply understanding and recognition.
With presence and authenticity, Anette opens up a space where there is room for both grief and hope. She shares reflections and experiences that may help you realize that you are not alone, and that there is still a way forward.
This seminar is in Danish.
